LISEGA SE – Milestone in dynamic testing of very large loads

Due to new demands, especially by Asian customers, it became necessary to update the existing large test bench for shock absorbers in Zeven so that dynamic loads of up to 5 MN and a frequency of 5 Hz could be tested. “Test benches of this capacity are seldom to be seen anywhere in the world”, explained Dr. Ekkehard Heinrichs. With this new testing technology, LISEGA is now practically independent of external testing institutes and thus highly flexible. But other products too, such as VICODA bridge dampers, can be tested on this machine. The test bench was conceived and constructed by the team led by Matthias Klee, head of the department ‘Special Machines & Tools’. Many components were also manufactured in-house. Special attention was paid to hydraulic control and measurement technology in the facility. A particular challenge was posed by the doubling of pump capacity to ensure the considerably greater need for hydraulic fluid in the unit.
