Mürmann – Arched bridges for Albert Canal

The Albert Canal connects the Belgian towns of Liège and Antwerp and is the busiest in Belgium. For more efficient use of this waterway it is being widened so that, in future ships with four containers on top of each other can sail along the canal. For this purpose a total of 31 new bridges with a height of 9.10 m have to be constructed. For eight arched bridges, with a span of 123 m up to 128 m, 560 high quality heavy duty m.connect tension rods, in a range of sizes from M85 x 4 to M110 x 4 and lengths of up to 22 m, are to be fitted. The installation of m.connect tension rods for the first arched bridge in the Belgian city of Herentals was successfully completed in September 2018. By the end of 2018 the supply of m.connect tension rod systems for four further arched bridges will be made.
