Wall mosaic of artist Renau with m·connect
The Wüstenrot foundation supports research into and conservation of the German cultural heritage by way of a number of projects. With the wall mosaic “The human relationship to nature and technology” created by the Spanish artist Josep Renau, the foundation is setting an example with this architectural art project in public space. After its removal in the year 2008, a civil initiative succeeded in ensuring the conservation of the mosaic, which represents a significant contribution to the mural art of the 20th century. Renau shows the ideal of a society that uses the forces and fruits of nature for the benefit of mankind. After intensive restoration work, the 70,000 glas tiles spread over 252 sections were attached to special concrete façade elements. The elements were fastened to a new reinforced concrete skeleton construction. For the stiffening of the construction m.connect tension rod systems were implemented.
